Discover Yourself Through Creativity.
Welcome to Art Therapy Studio of Reno, a welcoming space to explore your thoughts and feelings through the creative process. We believe art is a powerful, accessible tool for healing, growth, and self-discovery for everyone.
What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy is a type of psychotherapy that uses art materials, the creative process, and finished artwork to explore your feelings, resolve emotional conflicts, and increase self-awareness. It’s not focused on making a masterpiece; it’s about the process of creation itself. Guided by a professional art therapist, Paulette Gill, you can express things that words sometimes cannot.
About Paulette Gill, Art Therapist
Hi, I’m Paulette Gill, MA, ATR-BC—board-certified art therapist, artist, and founder of Art Therapy Studio of Reno.
I work with people who feel stuck—especially those who’ve already tried talking about it and nothing really changes. When you can’t explain what you’re feeling or keep repeating the same patterns, it’s often not a thinking problem. It’s something deeper.
Art therapy works by bypassing overthinking and going straight to what you feel. Instead of just talking about your experience, you interact with it—seeing it, shifting it, and relating to it in a new way. That’s where change happens.
My approach blends art therapy, somatic awareness, mindfulness, and depth-oriented psychotherapy. I’m engaged, present, and direct when it matters.
You don’t need to be “good at art.” You just need a starting point.
If you’re tired of overthinking, numbing out, or feeling disconnected from yourself, this work can help you move forward—often with more clarity and relief than you expected.
My Approach
I don’t sit across from you silently nodding while you spiral.
I’m engaged. Present. Curious. Direct when it matters.
Our work blends:
• Art therapy
• Somatic awareness
• Mindfulness
• Depth-oriented psychotherapy
This is therapy that uses your hands, your senses, and your nervous system—not just your thoughts.
And no—you do not need to be “good at art.”
Honestly, it’s better if you’re not trying to impress anyone.
What This Helps With
Art therapy is especially effective for:
Trauma
Anxiety and depression
PTSD and nervous system dysregulation
Grief and loss
Neurodivergence (ADHD, autism)
Addiction recovery
Relationship challenges
When you create, your brain shifts.
You’re no longer just stuck in the story—you’re interacting with it, shaping it, and seeing it differently.
That’s where change happens.
What It’s Like to Work Together
People come to me when they’re tired of:
• Overthinking
• Numbing out
• Repeating the same patterns
• Feeling disconnected from themselves
What they usually find is:
• Relief (often faster than expected)
• Clarity
• Emotional movement
• A sense of “oh…this is what’s been going on”
I’ll meet you where you are—but I won’t keep you stuck there.
